ANNOUNCEMENTS

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS A BOTTLE OF WATER EVERY DAY AT SCHOOL.

Discipline Plan

A safe, positive environment is important to each child's academic success.  We believe that this discipline plan will afford each student guidance in making good decisions about his/her behavior.  We hope to make a difference in the decision each student will make relevant to his/her behavior.  Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible.  the plan below follows Autauga County's district-wide discipline plan.  It outlines our classroom rewards and consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behavior.

This year we will be using a "point" system for behavior.  Each day, each student will begin with 3 points IN EACH CLASS.  If a student demonstrates a negative behavior, he/she will lose a point in the class he/she is currently in and it will be recorded in the behavior notebook.  The student will receive a consequence for each point lost:

        1 point - verbal warning

2 points - loss of brain break

3 points - loss of brain break, silent lunch, and a discipline step

*At the end of the week, each point lost is 5 minutes taken from Free Friday time.

For each step your child receives on his/her office referral, the following consequences apply:

          Step 1:  Student/Teacher conference

          Step 2:  Parent Notification

          Step 3:  Parent/Teacher/Administrator Conference

          Step 4:  Office Referral

**We will also keep you updated in Parent Square each time our child receives a step.

***Steps will reset at the end of the semester.

Every Friday, your child will bring home a Friday folder,  It will have graded papers for the week as well as a discipline log.  On the discipline log, we will mark how many points your child lost for the week as well as the behaviors that caused lost points.  If your child received any discipline steps, they will be attached to the conduct sheet.  Please sign this sheet ad any attached steps weekly and return to school the following Monday.  If your child does not return the folder signed on Monday, a silent lunch will be issued until it is returned.

We also want to make sure that students are rewarded for demonstrating positive behaviors or going above and beyond our expectations.  Students who behave appropriately will be rewarded with

     - positive notes

     - positive parent contact

     - POWER P's

     - praise

     - other classroom rewards

If you need to contact me for any reason, please feel free to reach out on ParentSquare or email me at michelle.thompson@acboe.net

Welcome 2026!

I hope you all enjoyed the holiday break with family and friends.  I am looking forward to seeing the children Wednesday as we begin  the second semester and finish the school year strong!  We will clean out binders and write in the agendas for the remainder of the week on the first day back. I will also give a new spelling and vocabulary list.   I will be sending home a Reading assignment each Thursday and it will be due the following Thursday.  This should be ample time to complete this particular assignment.

How you can help:

  • Please make sure your child is studying vocabulary & spelling nightly, reading at least 20 minutes, and completing any UNfinished classwork for that day.  Occasionally, I will send reinforcement practice for the Grammar skill of the week.
  • Please make sure your child has some type of coloring utensils (crayons or colored pencils) and a water bottle each day.

B I O G R A P H Y

This is my  27th year in the classroom and I have enjoyed every minute of it!  I have experience teaching 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th grades.  I have taught in private and public schools.  I am from Prattville and graduated from PHS in 1986.  I have a husband, 4 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 7 grandchildren.  I enjoy reading, puzzles, board games, salty snacks, sweet tea, and spending time with my family.

I believe in challenging students to reach their highest potential in a positive, nurturing environment.  I am looking forward to a fantastic year working with you and your child!
